Summer Idyll in Greece (7-10 days)

Day 1:

Your Greek Island cruise begins in the port city of Rhodes. You will begin boarding at 4 p.m. in the port area that fronts the old city. The crew will welcome you with champagne and light refreshments. Be sure to take in this wonderful city, one of the better preserved medieval settlements in Europe. Later, after drinks and a delightful dinner onboard Piccolo, you will want to take time to wander the streets, view the Byzantine churches and vaulted houses. Savor the wonderful nightlife of this friendly city, perhaps enjoying a leisurely drink at one of the colorful, local tavernas. Overnight in Rhodes.

Day 2:

Summer in the Greek IslandsBefore setting sail, you'll spend part of your first full day visiting the ancient fortified settlement of Lindos. This remarkable, ancient village ranks high on every visitor's list, and is recognized as the most well-preserved town on the island. So, following a sumptuous breakfast on board, your party will be taken by private transport to Lindos. After exploring the sights, and having lunch at one of the many local restaurants, your party will return to the port and set sail for Symi. You'll arrive in time for dinner in one of the most beautiful natural harbor towns in the world. Overnight in Symi.

Day 3:

Oh, what a beautiful morning. Stroll this compact town of many pastel colors, climb its steep stairways, gaze down on the picture postcard harbor, and visit the ancient monastery. Symi is always a favorite stop, a photographer's dream and a shopper's paradise - particularly for handcrafted leather and fine jewelry. Enjoy. Back on board, you'll set sail for a pleasant midday sail to Kos. Your Captain will anchor in one of the area's many hidden coves for a relaxing lunch.

Day 4:

Summer in the Greek IslandsAfter breakfast, take time to explore the town of Kos. Start by sitting under the plane tree where Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, used to teach. Apostle Paul is supposed to have taught here too. After lunch, your Captain will set sail for the short trip to Leros, a beautiful, calm island of whitewashed houses, secluded coves and picturesque villages. You'll want to take the morning to explore this tiny island, delighting in one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture. This island is also a great place to do some hiking. Following lunch, the Captain will sail the incredible coastline, explore this Dodecanese archipelago, and take you to a quiet place for a swim or a quiet read. You'll arrive in the historic biblical island of Patmos in time for dinner and some evening entertainment. Overnight Patmos.

Day 5:

The island of Patmos has been inhabited since 3,000 BC. Legend has it that the island sunk into the sea years ago and that Artemis, with the help of Apollo, managed to persuade Zeus to raise the island back to the surface. You'll want to take some time following breakfast to explore Patmos, including its many churches. One of the most important is the Monastery of the Apocalypse, built around the site of the cave where Saint John is said to have written his Book of Revelations. A walk through the narrow alleys of Chora (Patmos town) is a pleasant experience. The capital is picturesque, full of whitewashed houses and neoclassical mansions. Back on board by late afternoon, you'll sail to Kalymnos. Dinner and overnight in Kalymnos.

Summer in the Greek Islands

Day 6:

Kalymnos is one of the most beautiful of the Dodecanese islands with villages clinging to the slopes of the verdant mountains and many beautiful beaches. This is the spongefisherman's island. The capital of the island, Pothia, is particularly attractive. It is lined with cafes, and as home to Greece's spongefishing fleet, it is a working town. The island is also popular for rock climbing. As you leave Kalymnos today, there will be time for relaxing, sunning, swimming or enjoying other water sports and recreational activities. Your Captain will go wherever the four winds blow before anchoring for the night in a quiet, undisturbed cove on some small island along the way.

Day 7:

After breakfast, it will be time to head back to Symi. Along the way, the Captain will pass by some of the lovely bays and villages of this wonderful island. Enjoy lunch in Pedi Bay. One of the highlights will be a swim in a spectacular bay below the towering cliffs which was the 1961 site for the making of the movie "Guns of Navarone". You will return to Rhodes in time for a farewell dinner onboard.

Day 8:

After breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to the crew and gulet. Disembarkation time is 9am.
