Gulet Charters in Turkey
Take an abundance of sunshine and crystal clear water in all colors between turquoise and emerald, add some mild breeze, pine-shaded shores, lonely bays, steep coasts, exotic islands and add a couple of olive, fig and lemon groves. Then mix them with bright blue sky, picturesque sunsets and enchanting starry nights.
This is Turkey: one of the top 10 travel destinations in the world, welcoming more than 20 million visitors every year. It's modern enough to be comfortable yet traditional enough to be interesting.
Sights
A must-see, of course, is the cosmopolitan city of Istanbul where the historic Bosphorus separates Asia and Europe. This amazing city is modernizing rapidly, but is replete with world famous landmarks and heritage sites, including the Blue Mosque, St. Sophia, Topkapi Palace Museum, and Grand Bazaar (Kapalicarsi).
But equally important is the countryside. This is the real Turkey. Here, one can visit the remains of Artemis Temple, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. And Ephesus, the best preserved Greco-Roman city in the world, when one can explore the Agora, Odeon, Roman Baths, Marble Street, and the House of Virgin Mary. This is where she is said to have spent her last days.
History & Culture
Ephesus was the commercial, political, and religious centre of all of Asia Minor boasting a population of 250,000. After the Temple of Diana (Artemis) was burned in 356 B.C., the Ephesians worked for 120 years to complete a magnificent reconstructed temple, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
The Apostle Paul's first visit to Ephesus was brief, but his second visit lasted about three years. It is here that the Virgin Mary is said to have lived out her days following the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Another important destination is Cappadocia, where you can visit Devrent Valley and Monk's valley (Pasabagi) where you will find the world known fairy chimneys. There's also the panoramic view of Esentepe and the famous Derinkuyu Underground City.
Turkey's history goes back an estimated 25,000 years. Some of the earliest-known human communities are here. Countless civilizations have all left their works of art and culture in what is now the Turkish homeland.
Modern Turkey has all this - plus more mobile phones than you've ever seen in one place before.
Food & Drink
Turkish food is now world-famous, and rightly so. The abundance of its fields, farms, orchards, flocks and fishing boats is exceptional, and Turkish chefs take full advantage of this bounty.
For real local flavor, sit at a long table in a taverna, order a glass of beer, wine or pungent raki, and join in the songs and stories. Turks revel in good food, good friends, good times, and good nightlife.
Then there's the incredible coastline and the alluring Mediterranean. This is the land of the Blue Voyage. It is here you enjoy the deep azure blue seas, hidden coves, sleepy fishing villages, majestic hillsides, and boisterous metropolitan harbors. This is the home of Aegean Sails.
